Attention all boaters – some insurers have removed “Salvage or Wreck Removal” cover!

Submerged narrowboat

We wanted to draw attention to the fact that a number of insurance companies have recently removed 'Salvage or Wreck Removal' cost from their third party policies.

Sinking is a major risk and can leave boat owners with a hefty bill, not only for the cost of damage to their boat, but also the costs of recovering it from the waterway. We think it is vital every boater should have this covered, and we strongly advise that you take the time to check your insurance for ‘Salvage’ or ‘Wreck removal’ to make sure you aren’t exposed to this risk.

What is Salvage or Wreck removal?

If a boat sinks, the owner has a legal liability to remove the wreck from the waterway – an operation which can be extremely expensive, and sometimes costs more than the value of the vessel. If your policy doesn’t include Savage and Wreck cover, you will be left to pay this bill!

What can Collidge & Partners offer you?

Collidge & Partners offer ‘Removal of Wreck’ automatically on our full cover policies. Removal of wreck up to £15,000 is also covered on our third party only policies.
